Frequently Asked Questions about out articles

Our games and toys are designed at our office in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The manufacturing takes place in the Far East. We have several small-scale manufacturers in China with whom we have developed a good working relationship and work with for years. We visit them on a regular basis.

All our items have been tested according to the European Toy Safety Directive Standard EN71. Meaning the toys are tested to make sure they don’t contain any hazardous substances, are safe to use and the warnings on the packaging are confirm standard as well.

Besides this, we do additional testing if necessary, to be assured that there are no substances used as Phthalate, PAHs, Cadmium or Lead.

On top of this all, we only use water-based paint for our products.

Most of our items are wooden items. With normal use, this material can last for years.
The wood we use comes from plantation forests so that no trees from natural forests have to be cut down for our games and toys.

The games and toys that are painted, are painted with water-based paint. Not only is this better for the environment, but it is safer for children too.

Last year we removed as much plastic as possible from the packaging and we will continue this process in the coming period. We strive to have a 100% plastic-free packaging in the future. The cardboard used in our packaging has been partly made of recycled material. The ink used for printing is vegetable-based. We pack our games and toys in handy boxes, to avoid empty spaces as much as possible for transport.

The manufacturers we work with are mostly small-scale manufacturers in China that we know for years and who we also visit on a regular basis. We also have an independent report from all factories to make sure that the working conditions are good.

We want to encourage healthy playing. That is why we often work together with other organizations that share the same mission, such as the Johan Cruyff Foundation, Right To Play and the Haarlem Muggenronde.

We recommend cleaning the wooden toys with a damp cloth and green soap. To avoid water spots, do not make the product too wet.

Another good way is the use of baby wipes. These are slightly moist and do not contain any substances that are harmful to children.

If you want to disinfect the toys properly, mix 1 part cleaning vinegar with 2 parts water.

Vinegar is a completely natural cleaning and disinfecting agent. Vinegar is a disinfectant that kills more than 99% of bacteria and more than 80% of fungi and germs.

To enjoy the games and toys for as long as possible, we do not recommend putting them in the dishwasher, blow-dry them, or use scourers.
